First and Second Class learned all about bridges. We learned about different types of bridges including arch bridges, suspension bridges and truss bridges. We looked at photographs of famous bridges in Ireland including the bridge over the River Shannon in Carrick on Shannon and the Ha’penny Bridge and Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin. We looked at famous bridges around the world including The Tower Bridge, The Charles Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge, The Brooklyn Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Then we made our own bridges and we tested them to make sure they could take the weight of a toy car.
